How does it feel to let go and run away from all the restrictions? To walk away from those rules your parents taught you to make you a well rounded disciplined and responsible adult. Let me tell you this, the boundaries they drew for us has its reasons- foremost one being safety.
But to forget all that and do what you feel like, denying and cutting across all those restrictions has its rewards. In our case, taking the car away (without the owner's approval) for a road trip and enjoying an anxious excitement.
As silly as it may sound to regular drivers, for two young adults like us, it was our first real-life adventure. A fifteen-minute shopping plan turning into a one hour drive to Palakkad's famous lush green Malampuzha gardens.
I was bought up in Palakkad and have visited Malampuzha countless times, but this particular one made me look at the place in a whole different way. Was it the November warm air or this greenery that I enjoyed, or was it the changing angle of the hills controlled by me sitting in the driver's seat!!! It's the last one. Driving under the bridge or crossing the railway tracks, passing the forest reserve without father watching over my terrible gear shift is something I had to write about.
This journey made me feel the real joy of traveling, no one directing us how to turn and move, our own decisions, our own goal. But soon our escapade had to end. Back home, our parents' reaction after hearing about our little feat was more of a relief than excitement. They were glad that we were home safe and little did they enquire about the trip we took. The girls are back home and that's all that mattered.
To whoever reads this post- Please comment about your first road trip
