It's International Dog Day! Every day is someday, but our furry friends deserve a lifelong celebration. Our family dog Tippu passed away two weeks back. He was a cross-breed of dachshund and labrador and he was the most adorable creature in the world. This is a post remembering Tippu, his quirky charming nature.

Tippu looked like a peanut when we got him. We got him on a November night, in 2012. Looking tiny and scared, this little dog stole our hearts.

You can see he had wonky ears, his signature feature. I guess many dogs do have such peculiar asymmetry. Sweet, isn't it?

Ever seen a dog sitting on its thighs? Tippu did, like an old sweet grandma. He carried a smile whenever someone sat with him, it meant the world to him.

He made our neighborhood kids very happy, just by being his wobbly self. They considered him their playmate, although Tippu held an air of importance guarding the door.

Tippu followed table etiquette. No, he did not dine with us but see he had good manners, never rushed, or poked his nose while we filled his bowl. The most patient dog I've ever seen.

He went on walks and came home by himself. He was quite independent, although getting pampered was an exception.

Tippu loved to run up and down our stairs. His nails made tapping sounds, he never got it trimmed or did a manicure. He liked to keep it natural. He was quite a beaut.

He was not named after Tipu Sultan, we just happen to live near Tipu's fort.

Tippu would have turned nine years this November. Some of you are familiar with his shy nature, but he was also one adventure loving sweetheart. He was a big part of our family. We hope he's happy in dog heaven.
