It's late at night. My eyes felt drained and heavy. Shutting the laptop wasn't a choice, the work kept piling and it was almost never-ending. I decided to take a power nap. Sleep seemed more important and I felt my pillow could pull all my stress away.
As I started slipping into a nice deep snooze, I heard a jolt near my cupboard- sounded like someone was searching for something in a rush. Terrified and confused I opened my eyes. I saw something small, something white inside my cupboard and…it was moving!
Finally, my eyes got adjusted to the dim streetlights shining into the bedroom. Now I could see the cupboard much better. There were two kittens! But it didn't make any sense, there was no way these two could get inside my bedroom and give a death stare at me from the cupboard! It might sound unlikely that creatures so cute can give a shiver down your spine. I managed to get up and reached for the lights. But they vanished!
What?? I felt my consciousness was betraying my eyes. I was sure I SAW two kittens, both white, sneaking inside my cupboard, pushing my stuff, and LOOKING right at me! I stood blank, confused about what just happened. Was I imagining them? All my stuff was there untouched. Then it struck me. I was sleep-watching them. Of course. I do that when I'm stressed. The first time it happened I was home and my mother told me that I got up in the middle of the night and asked her if I should help her out with cooking something. It was the scariest thing I had ever heard. But also kinda cool, I thought. I couldn't wait to tell my friends about the curious case of my sleep-walking conversations.
Anyway, it happened again. But both the experiences weren't exactly the same. I had no recollection of the conversation with my mother, and I reckon that's a lot more dangerous than the dreamy kitten encounter. What if I unlocked the door and went strolling outside in my sleep? Yikes! Compared to that I should be glad I only saw two savage kittens...two sweet phantoms of my brain.
